This reproduction Santos mannequin has the prettiest features! She has the facial painting and molded hair twists of Italian saint dolls from the early 1800's. Her wire elbows and painted shoe style is also typical of Italian mannequins from that time period. Her body is made of a wood pulp resin composition, and she is hand painted with distressed features to give her the look of a true antique - such as leaning to her side a bit. Her body is stationary, and she does not have movable joints.
She is painted a soft sage green, and has brown hair and brown eyes.
Standing just under 14 inches tall, her petite size makes her easy to fit in almost anywhere.
Fashioned after the antique European Santos, they are carefully hand crafted. To make the hand painted doll unique, the craftsmen distress it; picking & choosing from a range of faux aging techniques. Variations occur with each handcrafted piece, particularly when being 'antiqued'. This is character, and not a flaw. Read more about that here.
