This 16 inch figure is a paper mache composite painted in Swedish blue, with white stockings and dark shoes. Her hair is formed and painted in a dark brown, and has the very unusual feature of her hair being in a loose bun. Her face is painted in fair skin tones, with rosy cheeks and very delicately carved and painted eyes.
Fashioned after the antique European Santos, they are carefully hand crafted. To make the hand painted doll unique, the craftsmen distress it; picking & choosing from a range of faux aging techniques. Variations occur with each handcrafted piece, particularly when being 'antiqued'. This is character, and not a flaw. Read more about that here.
