This sweet lady is a vintage-style Santos Cage Doll. She has a medium complexion with brown hair and blue eyes. Her hair is molded brown (which helps to hold on to tiny crowns), and she has an Early American feel to her design. She is painted with a shabby cream dress with a dark brown wooden cage and base. Her body and cage are made of wood, and her head and hands are cast resin. She is approx. 20" tall, with a 5.5" wide base. The lady's elbows & hands are jointed, providing her with limited motion/postures.
She can be beautifully dressed in a gown, be used to hold trinkets and flowers inside the cage, or even as a doll dress form! (Accessories not included)
Fashioned after the antique European Santos, they are carefully hand crafted. To make the hand painted doll unique, the craftsmen distress it; picking & choosing from a range of faux aging techniques. Variations occur with each handcrafted piece, particularly when being 'antiqued'. This is character, and not a flaw. Read more about that here.
