This beautiful lady is a vintage-style Santos Cage Doll. She is very light skin, to emulate a vintage Santos that has been carved from ivory. She has slightly rosy cheeks and brown eyes. Her hair is brown, and she has a dark mustard brown body (with a red trim around the neck line), cage and base. She is approx. 30 1/2" tall, with a 7 3/4" wide base.
The crown shown in the fourth photo is our 3.0 inch Jeweled French Star Santos Crown, sold separately.
While the original dolls are hard to find —not to mention: often heavily damaged, yet expensive!—, these meticulously handmade reproductions have become collectors items in their own right! Fashioned after the antique European carved Santos, they are carefully hand crafted.
She can be beautifully dressed in a gown, be used to hold trinkets and flowers inside the cage, or even as a doll dress form! (Accessories not included)
The lady's arms are jointed in various places (including the wrist), providing her with limited (and/or perhaps asymmetrical) motion/postures (though we do not recommend moving her delicately constructed arms much!); a distinction of unique craftsmanship!
Please note the distressed shoulder 'split' in picture three. Fashioned after the antique European Santos, they are carefully hand crafted. To make the hand painted doll unique, the craftsmen distress it; picking & choosing from a range of faux aging techniques. Variations occur with each handcrafted piece, particularly when being 'antiqued'. This is character, and not a flaw. Read more about that here.
