Our tall, beautiful Santos angel is definitely a sight to behold. She's inspired by a combination of American folk art and a traditional Spanish Colonial style Santos. Her torso is wood, and her skirt is tin, visible by a plastered seam where they are connected and painted. (Mild cracking of this plaster may be visible in this area, and should not be considered a flaw.) She is painted in robins egg blue and washed in brown, which yields a greenish appearance from a distance. She is attached to a black pedestal. She is jointed at the elbows and shoulders, however her arms are meant for only limited movement.
This Santos Angel has a long, beautiful neck, brown hair, rosy lips and cobalt eyes. Her face and neck have a medium complected finish, giving her a beautiful, natural look. She stands 33 1/2 inches with her stand. She is 6 1/2 inches wide at her shoulders and her stand is 10x8. Total wing span is 13" wide and 16" long.
This angel does not come with a crown, but we suggest a 2.75" wide crown, if you choose to select one. You can see her in two of our crowns of this size in photos 4 and 5.
Fashioned after the antique European Santos, they are carefully hand crafted. To make the hand painted doll unique, the craftsmen distress it; picking & choosing from a range of faux aging techniques. Variations occur with each handcrafted piece, particularly when being 'antiqued'. This is character, and not a flaw. Read more about that here.
